CHRIS HAYES

Chris Hayes, one third of CYPHER Films was born of Italian and Irish heritage. He started his journey into entertainment at Edward R. Murrow H.S. in Brooklyn NY. Here he was part of over a dozen productions. Including "Little Shop of Horrors" for which he served as Technical Director. Chris was given an opportunity to command a crew as well as draft designs for the implementation of the set. Chris Hayes, Dean Barry and FRANKLYN had time over the four years in Murrow to develop an unspoken work ethic. After his H.S. career Chris was accepted to the prestigious Design Technology and Film program at Purchase College. Purchases? high stakes, fast paced schedule molded him into the professional he is today. Chris became the youngest person to hold each position, that a Technical Direction major can hold in Purchase. He garnered the respect and admiration of his peers as well as the faculty.
Not only did Chris maintain a high college average but every summer he would work at the Central Park Summer Stage. These summers of working with established acts raised the level of Chris? productions skills while allowing Dean and Franklyn to mingle with industry professionals. Chris was poised to be the first to take a step into the world of professional entertainment.
After college Chris? talents took him across the country with the Vietnamese Water Puppet Theatre. Chris was responsible for the transportation, maintenance, set up and strike of the production for it?s run. His experiences there contributes towards our plans for a national tour of "Last Night in Brooklyn".
Upon his return Chris began working at Showman fabricators an industry leader for theatrical instillations. Chris? work with Showman has ranged from Live events such as the NYC New Year?s 2000 Celebration to Multiple television shows and news programs. After years of working on high level productions, Chris was honored with three Emmy Awards for HBO.
Now in addition to his rigorous schedule, Chris brings his years of experience to our productions in CYPHER Films . As one third of CYPHER Films management, Chris brings professionalism and experience to the table and will be a key component to our success.

FRANKLYN

A Brooklyn native and graduate of both the Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film at Purchase College, S.U.N.Y. and the Fictional Narrative Video graduate program at Emerson College. Franklyn is the founding member of CYPHER Productions and along with "A FRANKLYN PICTURE" became the first director out of the starting gate at CYPHER Films.
With his first short movie "SWINGS"(1998), Franklyn created a fantasy world where spirits and the living draw from each other’s strengths and knowledge in times of need. This movie gave birth to many of the themes and ideas that later grew into "EYES OF NY"(1999).
Visual arts have been the driving force behind Franklyn's work and most of his work starts there. From storyboards and character sketches to large paintings, his themes are communicated visually in public forums. The sharing of artistic moments collectively can heighten the impact of the work produced. Picking up on the subconscious cues from the people around us. Especially when watching movies together. Franklyn enjoys working with his local community and has produced films, written and performed by three 6th grade classes but produced professionally. The "Kid Flicks" experience grew into more community work in the form of murals and paintings as well as public art events.
In the fall of 2005 Franklyn returned to Brooklyn with "FADE". When not directing, Franklyn lends his talents to the other CYPHER projects as a producer and editor and is currently touring with his new feature-length movie, "LAST NIGHT IN BROOKLYN".

"I'm passionate about
Aiding people to recognize the importance of strangers in our lives. My work strives to illustrate this. Each man, woman and child on this planet is a vital member of our team."

DEAN BARRY

33 year old, Film maker and Actor, and one third of CYPHER Films, Dean Barry was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY of Italian and Jewish heritage. While attending Morris H. Weis Elementary school, at the age of 9 years old, Dean was not only acting in "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" as Benjamin, but he also designed and constructed the set for the show . Theatre continued through Dean?s life with productions of "You Can?t Take it With You", "A Christmas Carroll", "To Kill a Mocking Bird" and the "Odd Couple" all before high school. With the beginning of high school, Dean found himself longing for entertainment. While attending Lafayette H.S., Dean would volunteer time after his own school day to work on set construction for shows in Edward R. Murrow H.S. In 1991 Dean successfully transferred into Edward R. Murrow H.S. and joined the technical theatre crew where he met FRANKLYN and three time Emmy award winner Chris Hayes. After dozens of high school productions, Dean attended Baruch and majored in Accounting and Business but spent his weekends at Purchase College, S.U.N.Y. where Chris and FRANKLYN had been attending school for technical theatre and film. His need to support his family and his desire to entertain an audience pulled Dean in many directions. Dean found himself working as the Director of marketing for a national communications company, 9278 Communications, in the Bronx , NY, managing over 200 employees. The creative marketing skills and practices employed there, quickly carried over to CYPHER Productions and now, CYPHER Films..
Now with "LAST NIGHT IN BROOKLYN", Dean continues the tradition of acting and behind the scenes devotion. He has taken on a leading role as well as multiple production aspects. As "Paulie Funzzo" Dean portrays a multi-layered character, bringing humanity and humor to a hard and ruthless killer. At the same time, he has been indispensable as a behind the scenes force and editing partner. Devoting countless hours toward the success of this film. Dean?s approach to getting "LAST NIGHT IN BROOKLYN" to an audience, has created a blue print for distributing this film and others in the future. It allows for audiences across the country to view an independent film without a distributor. This model will even out the playing field for a company of our size and allow for DVD sales and audience records that can rival widely distributed films.
Dean has brought CYPHER Films into the community and has opened our offices to the people of our neighborhood. With Chris Hayes and FRANKLYN, Dean has hosted summer-time BBQ?s that give the community a chance to get to know each other. He has partnered with neighbors and created a neighborhood beautification project in which flowers and vegetables were planted and continue to be.
He has taking on the role of co-writer and director for "LOST IN AMSTERDAM" that is currently in pre-production while promoting "LAST NIGHT IN BROOKLYN". Dean is and will be a driving force of CYPHER Films now and in the future.
