MIDWOOD RISING
Episodes 1 through 19
EPISODE 1
FADE IN:
SERIES OF SHOTS DAY
A surveillance satellite flies over the earth, It focuses in
on New York City. Flying across the skyline we stop at the
United Nations Building.
EXT. UNITED NATIONS BUILDING, NYC DAY
Lawyer, Hudson Samuels and Congressmen, Stanley Strong are
walking towards the building. Stanley stops to get coffee
from a street vendor.
HUDSON
You and I live well Stanley, we can
afford to wait a little longer for
diplomacy to take it's course. But
there are people, in this country,
who wont stand for Buffalo.
STANLEY
Listen Hudson, Don't think I am not
outraged by the camps but I am
telling you, no, I am warning you.
We have to move carefully through
this. If we look like we are taking
the bombings lightly we will loose
more allies than if we light a
torch for the Arab detainees in
Buffalo.
HUDSON
If we have a war on our soil you
won't have to worry about
reelection Stan.
STANLEY
Hudson, don't over react.. The
Hayseeds aren't going to complain
and the city folk will forget about
this in no time. This will blow
over in a week when they find the
other bomber. Until then my hands
are tied.
HUDSON
How long till it's Jews in New
York?
STANLEY
What?
HUDSON
How long till the Jewish extremists
get tired of America's "hands off"
policy and start fighting here?
STANLEY
Why would they?
As he says this an enormous explosion rocks the United
Nations Building throwing them back ten feet. The two men,
covered in ash, glass and other building fragments try to
gather themselves.
STANLEY (CONT'D)
Are you OK?
HUDSON
Stanley? My ears are ringing. What
happened?
They look up as we pan behind them to see that the United
Nations Building has a huge hole in the front of it.
FADE TO BLACK.

EPISODE 2
FADE IN:
INT. MIDWOOD CAMP NIGHT
A scattering of dirty and scared people are in a dark
basement. The air is thick and damp. Corridor after corridor
is filled with weapons, blankets, cots and crates of
supplies.
Mike and Agatha Marchesi are feeding a line of people pasta
from a serving tray on an old buffet table.
AGATHA
Come on kiddos you gotta eat and
keep healthy.
MIKE
Yeah then you'll grow up big and
strong like me.
AGATHA
We want them to be healthy, Mike.
MIKE
Thanks ma! Keep serving. What are
you guys laughing at?
As we approach the farthest, darkest part of the underground
structure, we see a gathering of about forty people sitting
and standing around like refugees from a war.
Greg Solomon, a young but weathered man, is addressing the
group.
GREG
Again, if any of you want to join
the others who are staying this is
your last chance.
He looks around the room at the faces in the crowd. Ian
Malden, his second in command is standing next to Hudson, who
also scans the crowd. Doctors Nigel Walters and Mark
Katsumura, Jeweler and businessman David Rosenthal and his
adult sons Jacob and Sam are sitting together.
Ex policeman Shawn Berrium and Thug Dennis "Roots" Sinclair
are in the back both holding weapons as they listen. Roots
looks over at Hank Perry who is praying to himself. Roots
seems worried by this but tries to seem tough.
GREG (CONT'D)
OK, so if no one objects, I'd like
to ask Hank to lead us all in a
prayer.
HANK
Oh no, Greg, I don't think that
would be appropriate. I was a
Catholic Priest and we all share
different faiths.
GREG
Hank, you are all we have. We all
share that and we all would
appreciate whatever god you ask to
help us.
Hank looks over at the Israeli, Adele Sharesh and Khristoff
Raines, from Uzbekistan both special operations forces but
for different countries. They both look toward Hank assuring
him that he should begin. Next to Hank is Vincent Pooch, a
big, loud Russian gangster.
VINCENT POOCH
Talk us up Pastor Hank. Tell God
who the good guys are.
They all smile nervously.
HANK
Heavenly father... please guide us
in this task we face and give us
the strength to have faith that
what we do is right in your eyes.
When I look at the faces in this
room I know...I know that the loss
and the suffering and the fear that
envelopes us... is just there to
show us the way. That they are
there to show us... we feel and
care and are willing to do what we
know is right. God be with us as
the dawn approaches.
Each person responds with their own prayer closing in their
own language.
VINCENT POOCH
Very good Hank! The angels will
hear us coming.
He pats him on the back reassuringly.
GREG
OK. Ian is going to go over the
plan one more time.
IAN
OK, Khristoff and Vincent are going
to be driving the tracker trailers.
VINCENT POOCH
Who else would be.
Khristoff laughs.
IAN
Be careful you two. It would be a
shame to lose you.
ADELE
Not to mention the explosives will
kill us all.
GREG
Exactly. Please continue Ian.
IAN
Once you two see that the civilian
cars have cleared the area and our
people are in position...
KHRISTOFF
We jackknife the fuckers.
IAN
Once those trucks are blocking the
highway we have very little time to
reach the armory. If those soldiers
reach the armory before us we will
never make it to the prisoners.
The others understand the importance of this.
IAN (CONT'D)
Once the weapons are secured, the
escape will start from the inside
out. If they succeed we should both
be meeting at the prison tents and
providing cover for those heading
towards the boats off the highway.
ROOTS
How do we know that our people in
there are still alive?
IAN
We don't.
SHAWN
We pray Roots. We pray and have
faith that they will be ready.
ROOTS
I'm just saying, Is there an escape
plan.
IAN
Our escape plan is the same as the
prisoners.
ADELE
They leave we leave.
GREG
Alright. I think we have gone over
this enough. Try to get some sleep
and get your affairs in order. Take
this time to yourselves. Good
night.
VINCENT POOCH
Fuck your affairs check your guns
and rub one out.
Greg looks over at his son Tamir. Tamir is angry and leaves
the area.
END
EPISODE 3
INT. MIDWOOD CAMP NIGHT
Hudson and Greg are standing off alone. Greg is watching
Tamir from a distance.
HUDSON
He's scared that he will loose his
father tomorrow morning.
GREG
I don't know what else to say to
him.
IAN
Why don't you stay here also?
GREG
Would you ask anyone else to do
that?
IAN
Anyone else isn't you. We need you.
GREG
And you will need me tomorrow.
Tamir will come to understand.
HUDSON
He understands Greg. He is just a
boy though. You should reconsider
staying here. Ian has become quite
a leader in the field. We can not
afford to loose you.
GREG
We can not afford to loose Ian and
they can not afford to not have me
there. Any word from the Senator?
HUDSON
If they had agreed to close the
camp I would have came in with
champagne.
GREG
If you had money for champagne, I'd
start to think you were a traitor.
HUDSON
Hey, don't give Kristoff any more
reason to off me.
GREG
Never my friend. Thank you for your
help. We would have been no where
with out you.
IAN
Really, Hudson. I never doubted
you.
HUDSON
Thank you both but we would be no
where with out any of them.
They look at the scared group trying to be brave.
HUDSON (CONT'D)
It's only the beginning. Once we
free the prisoners the real work
begins. Go talk to Tamir.
GREG
Good night.
HUDSON
See ya tomorrow night.
GREG
Yes, tomorrow night.
Greg leaves the area.
HUDSON
I better get back to the office.
IAN
Be careful. After tomorrow you and
the Senator may be watched more.
HUDSON
I can guarantee that we will be.
Good luck Ian. It's been a wild
ride huh?
IAN
It has been my friend. I am glad to
have met you.
They embrace and Hudson leaves.
EXT. MIDWOOD CAMP NIGHT
Hudson leaves through the front door. An older woman, Mrs.
Russo is looking out of the window.
MRS. RUSSO
Stayed late today Mr. Handsome
lawyer man.
HUDSON
Well, you know Mrs. Russo. Take
care alright.
MRS. RUSSO
One of these days I'm gonna figure
out who you're seeing. The lucky
lady.
HUDSON
You know I come for you Mrs. Russo.
MRS. RUSSO
Oh stop. You get out of here.
HUDSON
Good night Mrs. Russo.
Hudson takes off. Mrs. Russo fans herself.
MRS. RUSSO
Oh that boy's too cute for himself.
CUT TO:
INT. MIDWOOD CAMP DORMITORY AREA NIGHT
Greg is watching his son Tamir cleaning his gun on his cot.
Agatha comes up behind Greg.
AGATHA
What? Not gonna eat?
GREG
I will. Soon.
AGATHA
He's growing up quickly.
GREG
Yeah. Too fast.
AGATHA
He looks like he grew a foot since
I met you two.
GREG
He probably did. I wouldn't even
know.
AGATHA
Listen Greg. I have a full hallway
of hungry people so I wont stand
here and tell you about being a
good father but I will tell you
about a hell of a man who has grown
into a great leader.
Agatha looks at Tamir.
AGATHA (CONT'D)
He had to learn it somewhere.
Greg laughs.
GREG
Oh, I thought you were talking
about me.
AGATHA
You're not to bad either. See you
at dinner.
Greg looks back at Tamir.

EXT. BROOKLYN MOSQUE DAY
People are filling the mosque.
INT. BROOKLYN MOSQUE DAY
People are all praying together. From the back of the mosque
comes a frail Jewish man. He opens his jacket revealing he is
a suicide bomber. He runs into the crowd and presses the
detonation button and explodes killing most of the people in
the room.
EXT. BROOKLYN JEWISH TEMPLE EVENING
Hasidic Jewish people are going into temple.
INT. BROOKLYN JEWISH TEMPLE EVENING
Three men run into the back of the synagogue. Two pull out
guns spraying the audience with bullets. The third, looking
much like the frail Jewish man runs into the middle of the
crowd and begins to scream then blows himself up.
INT. GREG AND TAMIR SOLOMON'S HOME EVENING
Greg, Sagid, Greg's wife, Tamir and Hudson are sitting down
to have dinner. They are all smiling and laughing.
HUDSON
Hey keep talking about Sagid's
cooking. I have plenty of room in
my apartment for a woman who can
cook.
SAGID
Why don't you get one of your
professional lawyer ladies to cook
for you.
HUDSON
I don't date lawyers. I date
actresses.
SAGID
Much better.
TAMIR
I think so.
SAGID
Look what you teach our son.
HUDSON
Well we all know he's not gonna
learn about women from Greg.
Sagid chuckles but tries to hide it.
GREG
Hey, what do you know? None of the
women you date are going to cook
for you. Ever!
HUDSON
I know, I know I give up. Hey why
don't you hook me up with one of
your students.
SAGID
My students are children.
GREG
He doesn't care.
TAMIR
Ew gross dad.
Suddenly the door is busted in and armed, masked, troops in
black are storming the apartment.
GREG
What is going on here?
TAMIR
Ma!
SAGID
Tamir!
HUDSON
I am Hudson Samuels, the family's
attorney! What is going on here!
The soldiers hit Hudson with the butt of the gun. They grab
Greg and Sagid and are holding a gun on Tamir.
GREG
Get your guns off my son! Tamir!
The men hit Greg in the stomach.
TAMIR
Dad!
They drag Sagid out of the house.
GREG
Sagid! Let go of my wife! Who the
fuck! Get off my wife. Help! Help
us! Someone help!
Another trooper hits Greg knocking him to the floor.
They go through the house and ransack everything. They take
computers and cut open couches.
TAMIR
What's going on?
HUDSON
Just stay quiet Tamir.
After they take what they need the troops back out of the
house with their guns pointing at the three.
OFFICER
Your wife Sagid Solomon is
suspected of aiding and abetting
known terrorists. You can find
information on your wife at this
address.
He drops the card on the floor and backs out of the house.
Hudson and Tamir hurry over to Greg who is on the floor in a
ball. Neighbors are gathering outside and start to peek their
heads in. We pull out to see the dishevelled apartment.
FADE OUT.

EPISODE 5
EXT. BROOKLYN COLLEGE CAMPUS DAY
Activists Aurora Camarin and Ian Malden are protesting the
detainees at Fort Hamilton Army Base. They have about sixty
people gathered around them with signs and banners.
AURORA
These are people! Who have
families! Friends! Had lives and
jobs and like you. No ties to
terrorist organizations.
IAN
Over three hundred people are
already being held here in Brooklyn
and by 2009 there can be upwards of
three thousand political prisoners
housed there.
AURORA
It is time people like us stood up
and told our politicians that we
don't need or want our Muslim
brothers and sisters locked up!
IAN
Too often in history we have
allowed our society to be sectioned
off and systematically destroyed.
This time we will not sit idly by.
Join us and let your voice be
heard.
Tamir is in the crowd watching. He is given a flyer by an
attractive young girl, Tanya Dickson.
TANYA
Come to our rally in the Humanities
building tonight.
TAMIR
Are you guys planning to stop them?
TANYA
Yes, we have been trying to come up
with ideas on how to do that. You
may want to help.
TAMIR
I do they took my mother a few
weeks ago.
TANYA
Oh my god. I am so sorry. Would you
want to share your story?
TAMIR
I don't know about that but I'll
come by if I can. OK.
TANYA
Cool see you there.
Tamir walks away but looks back at Tanya. Who walks up to
Roots and kisses him. Tamir crumbles the paper but then puts
it into his pocket instead of throwing it out.
CUT TO:
INT. MIDWOOD CAMP NIGHT
Greg comes over to Tamir who is now packing his bags.
GREG
Hey kiddo what are you doing?
TAMIR
I'm getting ready to evacuate if
the plan fails tomorrow.
GREG
Good. Smart. Agatha was right. You
have become a good leader.
TAMIR
Thank you...Good speech before. Not
just now. You know with the others.
GREG
You buy it?
TAMIR
They did.
GREG
And you?
TAMIR
I know when you are lying.
GREG
I'm not lying, I just don't know
what's going to happen.
TAMIR
It was my mother they killed. I
should be able to avenge her.
GREG
Who would you kill? Everyone?
People in black? Any solider? Any
American? This isn't about revenge.
It's about the people who are
alive, there now.
TAMIR
Then why are you going?
GREG
They need me Tamir. They need to
see that I am with them.
TAMIR
I need you too.
THE END

We are aware of Sagid's status. We

They leave and collect Tamir.
TAMIR

GREG
Not today son.
TAMIR
Why not! When? I am sick of this!
Give me my mom!
Guards are watching Tamir and getting ready to close in on
him. Others on line are watching and starting to get angry.
Women are crying.
TAMIR (CONT'D)
This is Bull shit!
GREG
Not here Tamir.
HUDSON
Don't give them an excuse Tamir.
GREG
Stay proud son.
Others begin to scream. Tamir notices his outburst is
spreading.
TAMIR
Look dad. Look at us all. Why are
we standing for this?
Greg thinks for a minute and looks at the faces of the angry
people.
HUDSON
Let's go.

want to hear anymore about this.
TAMIR
But dad...
GREG
No more Tamir.
Tamir takes off in front of them.
HUDSON
He's right you know.
GREG
What?
HUDSON
We are getting no where Greg. Maybe
we need to think about something
else.
GREG
Like starting a riot in a building
filled with armed soldiers!
HUDSON
No but maybe a press conference
might help.
GREG
Can you set this up?
HUDSON
Let me see what I can do. Go talk
with your son.

with caution.
Men fan out of the SUV's and surround the warehouse.
INT. WAREHOUSE APARTMENT DAY
Adele is practicing Yoga in front of the television. Soft new
age music fills the apartment. Adele has her eyes closed and
is fully in peace.
Troops are coming up and down the stairs outside her door.
Adele opens her eyes and sees a shadow pass a window. A
trooper drops a walkie-talkie that smashes outside her
apartment.
Adele hears this and dives away from the window as troops
come crashing through. When she gets up she has two guns in
her hands and opens fire on the intruders.
She runs down the hall and grabs a pair of boots as the door
smashes in. Adele shoots the first troops coming in and
continues towards the back of the house.
She closes herself in the bathroom and pulls a kevlar tarp
down over the door. She pulls on her boots and opens the
laundry hamper revealing a dark tunnel below. She grabs a
coil of rope and throws a flare off a shelf down the hole.
Adele ties the rope around her then she pulls out a remote
control and presses it then lowers herself.
A red light on the phone starts blinking. Red lights under
the computer desk and on the bedroom alarm clock start
blinking. Zooming in on the oven reveals a series of
explosives.

occurs. A ball of flames rushes down towards her.
ADELE
Holly shit!
Adele lets go and falls with a crash. She rolls out of the
way of the flames.
ADELE (CONT'D)
Way over did it. Ouch
INT. CONCRETE TUNNEL DAY
Adele is crawling through a tiny tunnel that most men would
not fit through. She crawls over metals plates and raises
them up behind her about every forty feet.
After crawling about a hundred yards Adele sees red lights in
front of her.
INT. ADELE SHARESH'S SECOND APARTMENT BASEMENT
The room is a cinder block basement studio apartment with
nothing but a television, a cot, a radio and a small
refrigerator. Adele knocks down a book case then crawls
through the hole in the wall and brushes herself off.
ADELE
Fucking cops.
She takes off the ash filled clothes and opens up cases of
weapons. She throws on a black sweat suit and checks a bag
for cash. Adele picks up the phone.
ADELE (CONT'D)
Hello, I need a cab to 350 fourth
avenue. Thank you. I'll be outside.
She puts on sunglasses and pushes hair out of her face. After
she puts on lipstick she walks out of the apartment with the
bags of money, clothes and weapons.

EPISODE 8
INT. MIDWOOD CAMP NIGHT
Ian is laying on his cot. He is sweating and very nervous.
Adele comes up to his bunk.
ADELE
Worried?
IAN
Aren't you?
ADELE
If it works I live in fear for more
months until they catch us. If it
doesn't I die. I figure either way
It's what I am doing next.
IAN
Why are you doing this? You don't
need us.
ADELE
I do it because some one has to and
that is why you do it also.
IAN
I guess.
ADELE
Aurora knew that. She saw that in
you.
IAN
Why do you say that?
ADELE
I see you hurting here. You can't
blame yourself or Greg or anyone
else anymore. You did the right
thing. None of us would be here if
she came back.
IAN
I just miss her. You know? I just
want...wanted to keep her safe. I
love her so much.
ADELE
I know.
Adele tries to rub his shoulders.
IAN
Please Adele.
ADELE
I am sorry. I thought you may want
some company tonight. Just to talk.
IAN
I am so grateful for everything
you have done for me and for us.
Whatever happens tomorrow
morning...just know that you mean a
lot to me. Just know that.
ADELE
I know.
She kisses the top of his head.
ADELE (CONT'D)
Rest up tough guy.
IAN
Thank you Adele.
Adele walks out of the area. When she is out of Ian's sight
she softens her face and starts to cry.

older man, David Rosenthal comes out from the back office.
DAVID
Wonderful purchase you two lovely
kids. May you have many years of
bliss.
The customers smile and leave.
DAVID (CONT'D)
Aurgh the cheap bastards. Is there
a smaller one? Why so expensive?
The Asians are cheaper. Well go to
the Asians. Go.
JACOB
Oh come on dad. It's a big
purchase. People want to be
reassured.
DAVID
People want to rob us is what they
want to do.
SAM
Pop! Relax you're gonna stress your
heart. Why are you even here?
JACOB
He doesn't think we can handle the
store.
DAVID
Handle the store? You two couldn't
handle those two. We could have
sold that ring for more.
JACOB
Or they could have taken their
business to Canal street and got
the price we sold it for.
DAVID
What do you know from Canal street?
SAM
I know David and I priced our
inventory against theirs to insure
we can under cut.
DAVID
Oh, my boys have learned a thing or
two.
JACOB
I'd say we've learned something.
DAVID
You have only the best to emulate.
Suddenly a black van pulls up outside the store attracting
their attention.
JACOB
What the fuck?
DAVID
Watch your mouth.
Four armed men, Rich Craig, Desmond Jones, Bruce O'Brien and
Johnny Cruz get out of the truck and walk into the store.
RICH
Jacob and Sam Rosenthal!
DAVID
What do you want with them?
RICH
Restrain him.
Johnny and Desmond hold David.
DAVID
What?
JACOB
Get your hands off my father.
SAM
What do you think you are doing?
RICH
Are you Jacob and Sam Rosenthal?
SAM
Who is asking?
Bruce hits Sam.
RICH
Are you Jacob and Sam Rosenthal?
JACOB
Yes! Yes we are what do you want?
RICH
You two are on the suspect watch
list. We have a few questions to
ask you.
JACOB
OK just give us a moment to close
the store.
DAVID
No! This is how it starts! First
it's questions and then it's more
questions and then you are a
suspect and then you are in the
camp! No! You are not taking these
boys and you have no intention of
taking them.
JACOB
Dad it will be OK.
DAVID
Jacob shut your mouth. This man has
no interest in taking you two in.
SAM
He doesn't?
DAVID
No, do you officer?
RICH
I am sure we can work something
out.
DAVID
Just take what you want and go!
RICH
Let him go.
CHRISTIAN
What's going on?
DESMOND
Just listen to your father.
The men start taking jewelry from the cases.
JACOB
What are they doing!
DAVID
Just let it be son.
They watch as the men steal from them.
DAVID (CONT'D)
They are worthless compared to you
boys. We will buy more.
JACOB
But dad. We can't...
DAVID
Not another word Jacob.
They watch in silence as they are robbed.

DESMOND
You said no one would get hurt.
RICH
We needed to make and example.
If one of these fucks don't pay up
and go to the Feds we're fucked.
DESMOND
Look I'm telling you Shawn knows.
RICH
Then take care of him and get your
head right.
DESMOND
No. This is going to end now. I
wont turn you all in but I am done.
RICH
I am sorry to hear that.
Bruce walks up behind Desmond as Rich covers his mouth and
shoots him in the stomach. Roots is walking the back streets
around the campus and passes the three cops. Rich sees Roots
and starts to chase after him.
ROOTS
Oh shit!
Roots runs down the street with blinding speed. Bruce and
Rich are following closely.
Roots hops a fence and takes off down a back alley. They
continue chasing him until he starts cutting through back

TANYA
You have to call the police.
ROOTS
Did you hear me! I just saw
two...cops...shoot...another...cop.
Who am I gonna call?
TANYA
What are we gonna do?
ROOTS
I don't know they where chasing me.
TANYA
They saw you?
ROOTS
Yes.
TANYA
Oh no.
They sit by the window all night terrified.
INT. BROOKLYN COLLEGE CAMPUS DAY
Tanya is walking around the campus in a daze. Aurora runs up
behind her making Tanya scream and drop her books.
AURORA
Oh my god I am sorry.
TANYA
Oh my god I'm sorry. I'm on edge.
AURORA
Have you heard about the cop?
TANYA
Yeah I heard last night.
AURORA
Wow, it's crazy. They said the guys
just came out of nowhere and shot
him in the back. You don't look so
good honey. You gonna make it to
the rally.
TANYA
Yeah, I...I'm not sure. I have
something going on at home.
AURORA
Tanya let's go talk.
TANYA
OK.
They find a secluded corner to continue talking.
AURORA
What's going on.
TANYA
A cop shot that cop last night.
AURORA
What? How do you know?
TANYA
Roots saw it and now they are
trying to blame him for it.
AURORA
Oh my god. We need to go to a
lawyer.
TANYA
He's afraid that the cops will kill
him if he turns himself in.
AURORA
He's probably right.
TANYA
What do we do?
AURORA
We'll call a lawyer. But for now we
should keep him hidden.
TANYA
He's at my apartment.
AURORA
OK. I'll talk to Ian and we'll have
someone meet you tonight. Can you
still come?
TANYA
Yes I will be there.

EPISODE 11
INT. TANYA'S BROOKLYN COLLEGE APARTMENT NIGHT
Tanya comes home to find Roots reading the paperwork on the
organization.
ROOTS
How'd it go?
TANYA
No one asked me anything. I don't
think they know who you were.
ROOTS
I didn't hear anything on the news
either.
TANYA
You still shouldn't go out.
ROOTS
I'm going crazy in here. My peeps
are gonna flip if they don't hear
from me.
TANYA
I'm gonna flip if you try to leave
this house or call anyone.
ROOTS
Sure boss lady.
TANYA
This isn't a joke.
ROOTS
Who's joking? I can't stay in here
forever. I have to find a safe way
out of NY.
TANYA
What? You can't run. They'll kill
you. And what the fuck? I'm in it
for you but you want to up and
leave me here!
ROOTS
Nah, it's not like that. We'd run
together.
TANYA
You must be crazy. Catching cabin
fever or some shit. Nigga's out of
his God damn mind. Please. I ain't
giving up my college career for
this shit. I'm getting my papers!
If we're doing anything we are
doing this right!
ROOTS
OK, what's the plan?
TANYA
I talked to Aurora.
ROOTS
You did what? Now who's bugging?
TANYA
Aurora and Ian have the best chance
of believing your story.
ROOTS
You told Ian too.
Roots starts checking the windows.
TANYA
No, but Aurora will. They can help
us.
ROOTS
Are you kidding me? They are rich
white people. They aren't helping
me. God, Tanya! How could you tell
them.
TANYA
Aurora is Native American and Ian
is Jewish.
ROOTS
OK so great. The one Indian left in
America and a protesting Jew!
TANYA
Got any better ideas?
ROOTS
Actually, Ian gets arrested a lot
doesn't he?
TANYA
Yeah.
ROOTS
He may have a lawyer that can help.
Jews always have lawyers.
TANYA
Who told you that?
ROOTS
It doesn't matter. How do we
contact him?
TANYA
I am going to the protest tonight.
ROOTS
Should I come with you?
TANYA
I think you should stay right here.
ROOTS
Cool...Cool.

RICH
I would expect that from you.
SHAWN
I would expect extortion from you.
RICH
You got something to say Shawn?
SHAWN

EPISODE 13
INT. FORT HAMILTON ARMY BASE INTERROGATION ROOM NIGHT
Sagid is again in the dark room but this time she is being
questioned naked. She has stopped speaking to the men so a
woman comes in and takes away her chair, making Sagid stand
up. Sagid is frail and has withdrawn until the lights are
brought up.
Sagid sees that there are Muslim men lined up naked behind a
glass wall.
OFFICER
They can clearly see you.
The men behind the glass try to avert their eyes but are shot
with water hoses when they do not look. The female guard
holds Sagid head to the glass wall, pressing her body up
against it. Tears fall from her face.
OFFICER (CONT'D)
I want the names of every man that
dropped off children to you that
may have exhibited radical views.
If you do not answer me we will go
through all the men held in this
prison. Muslim and Jewish. Then I
will start asking you to identify
my soldiers. How do you think Greg
will feel when he finds out how
many men have viewed his wife.
Sagid cries.
SAGID
I will help you. Please. Please no
more.
OFFICER
Turn off the lights.
FADE TO BLACK.
INT. GREG AND TAMIR SOLOMON'S HOME EVENING
Greg tries to close the door as quietly as he possibly can.
Slowly he comes down to Hudson and Tamir.
HUDSON
How is she?
GREG
She's...
Greg breaks down.
GREG (CONT'D)
I want to kill them. They tortured
her Hudson.
As Tamir watches his father cry they all hear a gunshot from
upstairs.
GREG (CONT'D)
My gun.
HUDSON
Oh no.
Hudson and Greg run upstairs as Tamir stands in shock.
GREG
Sagid!
FADE OUT.
INT. GREG AND TAMIR SOLOMON'S HOME EVENING (THREE WEEKS
LATER)
Tamir is reading the flyer he got from Tanya for the meeting.
He hears his father come home and hides it.
GREG
Hey buddy.
TAMIR
Hey.
Tamir goes upstairs as Greg watches. Hudson walks in through
the front door.
GREG
Class action suit?
HUDSON
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Greg. We
have exhausted everything I can
think of. The ball is rolling but
any action is going to take years.
GREG
The congressmen, Congressman
Strong?
HUDSON
I asked him. He is seeing what he
can do for you. But with the
elections coming up he is worried.
Greg, Are you sure Sagid wasn't
involved in any terrorist
activities?
GREG
No, she was a Koran teacher! A
teacher and a mother and my wife.
HUDSON
I am sorry Hudson. But she is one
of the only women that they had in
there and I can not understand why
they would risk all the bad press.
GREG
I don't know why.
HUDSON
How's Tamir?
GREG
He is having a really hard time
with this. He hasn't been going to
school and he is going out at
night.
HUDSON
Where is he going?
GREG
I don't know.
HUDSON
Don't you follow him?
GREG
No. Hudson. I have been trying to
find another job.
HUDSON
You are quitting the corps?
GREG
How can I fight for this country
anymore? I fought in Iraq twice for
these people. I have metal in my
leg for these people. They buried
my wife.
HUDSON
Greg. I can't say anything else
man. Please, let me help you and
Tamir financially. It's all I can
do now.
GREG
You have done more than anyone
else. Now I have to just figure out
what to do with my son.
HUDSON
Tonight we take a walk.

INT. THE ROSENTHAL'S HOME NIGHT
David is sitting with his son's in the kitchen.
DAVID
I refuse to live in this country a
week more watching the new Nazis
take hold. I will not!
JACOB
They are not the new Nazis.
DAVID
The Gestapo then! I leave for
Israel next Friday.
SAM
You better go on Thursday. You
don't want to be caught in the
airport on Shabat.
DAVID
Oh a wise guy now. I could have
save myself thirty thousand dollars
and let them take you.
SAM
I'm sorry pop, but with the war
going on you are not getting
anywhere near the Middle East.
DAVID
Then we will aid the resistance.
JACOB
What are you talking about Dad?
SAM
Actually if we had any money left I
was thinking about doing that.
JACOB
What? You both are whacked now.
SAM
No really, I don't know what pop is
talking about but I heard about
people who are trying to stop the
prison camps and get America to
back the war.
JACOB
Like terrorists?
SAM
Kinda like terrorists.
JACOB
So you and pop, want to take what
is left in our family's savings and
support a terrorist organization to
get back at the cops who robed our
store.
DAVID
Yes.
SAM
Yes.
JACOB (CONT'D)
I'm going to bed.
DAVID
Who was this guy you met?
JACOB
No! No! We do not fund terrorist!
Bad!
DAVID
What you said you were going to
bed.
JACOB
Even if we weren't about bankrupt
we can not do this.
DAVID
Oh stop it we are not bankrupt. I
have five times more money in my
bedroom than in the bank.
JACOB
Oh my god. I give up.
SAM
Jacob, You want to keep paying
these pricks?
JACOB
No but what good will this do?
SAM
Buy us some protection. Like the A
team or the God father. You know...
"Protection".
JACOB
Why don't we take the... I dunno,
millions under dad's bed and move
to Colorado or somewhere safe...I'm
alone in this and whatever I say
you people are supporting the
terrorists...OK tell me about it.
The family discuses their future over coffee.

EPISODE 15
INT. COFFEE SHOP MORNING
Sam and Ian meet at a coffee shop.
IAN
I heard what happened to your
family. I am sorry I didn't
approach you myself but you can
never be too sure these days.
SAM
Your friend, the lawyer, why does
he want to help Jews?
IAN
He doesn't. He wants to help
people. All the people who are
suffering because of this war. Jew,
Muslim, black, whatever you please.
He is a good man.
SAM
I am sure. I didn't mean to imply
anything by it. You must forgive
me. Things have been a bit...let's
just say I have had reason to be
paranoid recently.
IAN
As have we all.
SAM
How is your father?
IAN
Oh he is doing well. Making money.
And yours?
SAM
A lunatic as usual. He had decided
that he was going to go to Israel
with the money he has stuffed in
his mattress. The funny thing is I
think it would be better off for us
there. At least there we have a
side.
IAN
Here we do to. We just have little
support.
SAM
Your father...he knows?
IAN
Oh no. He would never be involved
with this. Bad for business.
SAM
My father thinks it's the second
coming of the holocaust.
IAN
If more people thought like your
father we wouldn't be here
whispering.
SAM
You are right. Well we might as
well get to it. We can help
financially but I want to help
anyway I can.
IAN
Good. We are going to need a lot of
both.
SAM
We need to have protection in the
store.
IAN
We will start there.
SAM
I am sure the other businesses will
welcome the help. They may also be
of service. You guys are going to
need more food and supplies.
IAN
Yeah, we keep getting bigger. They
are starting a war against our
people. Soon they will know that we
are fighting back.
EXT. BRIGHTON BEACH WAREHOUSE NIGHT
Adele and Aurora are walking towards an old warehouse.
Crackheads and homeless people are looking at the two women
who stand out.
AURORA
I don't know if this was a good
idea without Ian and Greg.
ADELE
Greg can not do this and Ian won't.
AURORA
Maybe we shouldn't.
ADELE
We talked about this before. I am
restocking either you come with me
or not. I'd rather you did.
AURORA
OK. Let's go before I change my
mind. Is the car safe?
ADELE
What difference does it make. It's
stolen.
AURORA
What?
ADELE
Where did you think I just got a
car from?
Aurora realizes she is in over her head.
INT. BRIGHTON BEACH WAREHOUSE NIGHT
Inside is a regular hip hop party but with two Russians in
the center of the women and weed. Khristoff and Victor Pooch,
two arms dealers are having a party with wild women and a few
rough looking friends.
The door opens and the two Midwood women come in.
ADELE
I need lots of guns.
KHRISTOFF
Are you going to fight the Muslims?
Because they buy a lot of guns.
You, you have a little bag.
ADELE
Little bag...big bills.
VINCENT POOCH
What and ass you got on you.
Victor squeeze Adele's ass and starts laughing. Adele twists
his arms then kicks Victor's ass for squeezing hers. Aurora
stops the fight by dumping a bag of money on the table.
AURORA
I'm sure she would love to beat
your friend all day but we would
like to go home.
Khristoff is intrigued. Adele smiles and twists Victor's arm
one last time.
VINCENT POOCH
Oh, I like this one Khristoff.
KHRISTOFF
Please, unhand my friend so we may
do business.
EXT. BRIGHTON BEACH WAREHOUSE NIGHT
The girls walk out with two duffel bags. Adele walks up to a
mini van and cracks the lock. As they load up the car Adele
notices Aurora drifting.
ADELE
A long way from protesting huh?
AURORA
You know you make your signs and
talk about what you would do but
this, all this... is not what I
would do. I always expected to be
able to change people's minds with
words.
ADELE
Now your words speak louder.
Adele drops a bag of weapons into the van with a metallic
clunk.
AURORA
Are we speaking loud enough?
ADELE
I'd say we've been making some
noise.
AURORA
Yeah, I guess. Let's go. OK.
They drive off in the van.
FADE TO BLACK.

sorry.
EXT. BROOKLYN COLLEGE CAMPUS EVENING
Shawn Berrium is in a car parked far behind Rich and Bruce.
Tamir walks into the meeting hall.
BRUCE
Why are we here?
RICH
We need a suspect that no one will
question. What better than an
extremist?
BRUCE
Good call.
They see Hudson and Greg walk in.
RICH
Looks like our man right over
there.
BRUCE
Which one?
RICH
Come on let's go.
Shawn is watching them follow the men inside. He also goes in
after them.
INT. BROOKLYN COLLEGE CAMPUS CONFERENCE ROOM NIGHT
Ian and Aurora are in the front of the room at a podium
speaking to a room of about twenty people. Tanya is handing
out flyers as people come in.
TANYA
Hey. I am glad you came.
TAMIR
Thank you.
TANYA
How is your mother?
TAMIR
She's dead.
Tamir goes to sit down as Tanya stares in shock.
AURORA
Our politicians have failed us and
they have failed you. They promised
us that Fort Hamilton would not be
another Guantanamo. Actually it
isn't. It is worse. Three times
worse.
Greg and Hudson come into the meeting but Tamir doesn't see
them.
AURORA (CONT'D)
Today there are over 1500 Jewish
and Muslim men and women being held
with out a trial. There may only be
a few of us in here today but there
are many more who feel like us out
there. Many more of you that feel
the outrage.
Rich and Bruce are standing in the doorway. Ian notices them.
AURORA (CONT'D)
So far we have collected 70% of our
goal target to begin an add
campaign that will help raise
awareness in the community.
TAMIR
Who doesn't know!
AURORA
Excuse me?
TAMIR
Who doesn't know?
AURORA
I'm sure many people have no idea
how bad it is over there.
TAMIR
You don't know how bad it is over
there. Because if you did you'd be
up there talking about how we are
going to take that money and build
and army to rescue those people.
Before more people die.
AURORA
No, we need to win the support of
the people. And as far as we know
no one has been killed.
TAMIR
My mother has been killed. A gun in
her mouth. Her brains all over the
wall.
Greg gets up to stop Tamir but Hudson stops him.
TAMIR (CONT'D)
Now. Right now I want this to stop.
Aurora is stunned. Ian steps in front of her. Rich walks in
with his badge in his hand and his gun drawn. Bruce follows
behind him.
RICH
I'm sorry sir but could you please
come with us.

HUDSON
Excuse me this is my client.
Bruce pushes Hudson aside and pulls out his gun.
HUDSON (CONT'D)
What's going on here?
TAMIR
Dad?
Bruce looks at Rich as if to say this is too much.
TAMIR (CONT'D)
What are you doing here?
RICH
Get up and walk outside now.
IAN
What has this man done?
The crowd begins to echo Ian.
TAMIR
Let him go.
BRUCE
Get back all of you.
HUDSON
Or what officer?
BRUCE
Or things will get ugly.
GREG
It's OK. I have done nothing wrong.
I will be fine.
TAMIR
What did mom do?
GREG
Tamir. This isn't the way.
RICH
Listen to your father son. Don't
make the same mistake he did.
GREG
What are you talking about?
RICH
Just get outside.
Rich starts to take out his handcuffs.
GREG
No, what am I being arrested for.
The crowd gathers closer.
RICH
The murder of Officer Desmond
Jones.
HUDSON
No way!
BRUCE
Back off.
SHAWN
Let him go Rich.
RICH
Don't get involved with this Shawn.
SHAWN
Rich this man is innocent and we
both know that.
BRUCE
Rich, what should I do man?
RICH
Bruce, shoot anyone who tries to
stop us. Listen here. I am walking
out of this place with this man.
Put these cuffs on. If anyone gets
in my way I will have them shot.
TAMIR
Dad don't do it.
Greg is holding the handcuffs.
RICH
Put them on.
GREG
No.
RICH
Put the fucking cuffs on!
GREG
No, I did not kill anyone and I
will not put these on.
The men are at a stand off.

five seconds to save your son.
GREG
Let him run now!
RICH
Go run.
GREG
Tamir go!
TAMIR

GREG
Tamir! Obey me!
Tamir is scared but runs. Shawn makes his way around the
corner.
SHAWN
Put it down Rich.
RICH
Shawn don't get involved.
SHAWN
He's done nothing wrong Rich let
him go.
RICH
I'm sorry. I can't do that.
Rich aims at Greg and Shawn shoots him. Rich falls to the
ground. Shawn and Greg look at each other.
SHAWN
Run.
GREG
What?
SHAWN
Go...go find your son. You have
nothing to do with this.
Suddenly Shawn is shot by Rich. Greg drops to the floor and
picks up the gun. Rich is firing towards Greg who is hiding.
Tamir hears this and comes back. When Greg sees Tamir in the
alley he kills Rich. Ian comes outside with Hudson, Tanya and
Aurora.
IAN
Oh my God!
HUDSON
What happened?
GREG
We can't let them catch us here.
HUDSON
He's right.
IAN
Aurora, Stay and take care of the
cops. I have place we can go.

IAN
My father owns the building. We
should be safe here.
INT. MIDWOOD CAMP NIGHT
The basement is cold, dark and cavernous with out the others

GREG
We'll stay here till you guys get
back. Go hurry.
They leave Greg and Tamir alone in the basement.
GREG (CONT'D)
Tonight, I was ashamed because I
realized that you grew into a
better man than me. Your mother
would be proud of you.
They sit in silence and watch for any movement out the window
for a moment.
TAMIR
She'd be proud of you too more. You
didn't loose yourself.
GREG
Neither did you.
TAMIR
I hated them all. I wanted to kill
that cop. Just because he was a
cop. Even before he tried to kill
us.
GREG
I can't lie to you. I wanted too
but it was you that kept me from
doing it. You're mother would be
proud of both of us.
TAMIR
I miss her.
GREG
I miss her terribly son.
Greg, cries and tries to turn away from his son. Tamir is
startled and doesn't know what to do at first but then,
slowly and awkwardly puts his arm around his father.
Greg holds his son's hand.
TAMIR
I'm sorry Dad. I know you miss her
too.
Greg breaks.
GREG
We will be OK. I promise you.
TAMIR
I know.
Greg gathers himself.
GREG
Thank you Tamir.
TAMIR
You're welcome. Dad...
GREG
Yes?
TAMIR

here?
GREG
Maybe a few hours.
TAMIR
I don't know how long I can stay
here.
GREG
Me neither.
